The Snake is a hundred times more dangerous than The Fox: The Fox deceives through simple trickery, but The Snake does so with sophistication, waiting patiently for the best moment to strike below the belt. And yet the image is two-sided: a snake sheds its skin every year, so it also carries renewal, transformation, and deep knowledge of life — in the company of good cards it becomes wisdom. It is also powerful sexual energy and the theme of medicine: the serpent is a symbol of healing.
