The airy part of Earth: the mind yoked to matter, like an ox to the plough. Endurance, methodical labour and long-term planning that remodel life around oneself.
The Prince's bearing is thoughtful — this is Earth made intelligible. He wears light armour; his helmet is adorned with the head of a bull, and a bull is also yoked to his chariot — the animal most sacred to the element of Earth. In his left hand he holds a 'disk' — a globe marked with mathematical symbols, a hint at the planning without which there is no farming; in his right a sceptre bearing an orb and cross, symbol of the achieved Great Work.

Interpretation
The Prince of Disks is the airy part of Earth, the letter Vau: the flowering and fruiting of the element, Earth made intelligible. By the Tetragrammaton the Prince is the active offspring of the Knight and Queen, their intellectual image in motion; here it is the mind applied to the densest matter. His function is to draw from substance the vegetation upon which the Spirit itself feeds.
Upright this means enormous energy applied to the most 'dense' practical matters. Strong and enduring, a capable manager, stable and persistent worker; a good specialist — inventive, thoughtful, cautious, reliable, unflappable. He constantly seeks new applications for familiar things, and bit by bit, methodically, remodels his life around himself.
The card is about business acumen, long-term planning, methodical work that bears real fruit. The counsel: yoke the mind to matter, like an ox to the plough — build slowly, solidly and toward your own goals. The atmosphere is one of reliability, diligence, active working surroundings that breed a sense of stability and security.
The counsel is to create an atmosphere of reliability around yourself, to show endurance and diligence, to be unshakeable and decisive, to work with awareness of the usefulness of the matter — and then 'a fine harvest awaits you'. In this reading — to prove your endurance; what it leads to: firm ground underfoot, honesty, a sense of security.
By the Tetragrammaton the Prince is the fruit of the union of the Knight and Queen of Disks Queen of Disks. The bull in the chariot and the decan of Taurus connect him with V the Hierophant The Hierophant; Venus and the Moon in Taurus link him with III the Empress The Empress. The sceptre of the achieved Work echoes the Ten of Disks Ten of Disks. Contrast with the purposeless Prince of Swords Prince of Swords: there, mind without soil; here — a mind that has taken root in the earth.

Advice & forecast
✦ The card's advice
Yoke your mind to matter, like an ox to the plough: build slowly, solidly and toward your own goals, without chasing glitter. This is the time for business acumen, long-term planning and methodical labour — create an atmosphere of reliability and stability around you; show endurance, diligence and decisiveness; work with an awareness of the usefulness of the matter. Seek new applications for familiar things, gradually remodelling circumstances around you. But watch that solidity does not turn into rigidity, and persistence into deaf stubbornness: sometimes it is worth leaving a 'marathon' already begun, if it leads to a dead end.
🔮 What the forecast holds
Ahead lies a solid business outcome through planning and persistence: the matter will demand calculation, methodical acumen and endurance, and will reward with firm ground underfoot. Careful, thought-through work, solid projects, and an active working environment will bring a sense of stability and security. If you show endurance and see what you have set out to do through to the end, a 'fine harvest' awaits — a fruit gained not by a sudden burst but by the gradual, purposeful cultivation of circumstances around you.
↓ Prince of Disks reversed
Distinguishing between a good and a poor elemental environment for this card is not very practical; in a poor one its traits merely worsen in degree. Then the shadow emerges: the Prince is almost devoid of emotion, unfeeling; he can seem dull and obtuse, and resents more spiritually-inclined people. He is rarely angry, but when 'wound up' he becomes implacable. In reversal — rigidity instead of solidity, stubbornness instead of persistence, a submersion in the material to the point of deafness to meaning. The shadow of 'not the right time': sometimes it is worth leaving an already begun 'marathon run'.
