Manara's Temperance is about relaxation and calm. The card is a very light one: no dynamics, no agonising deliberation. It is about yielding to the course of events and rising above emotions. Our growth is like a swing — now at the top, in honours and pleasure, now at the bottom, in self-reproach and mistakes.
The heroine hovers above the surface of the water — a hint to rise above personal attachments and worries. To stay aloft means to reflect, to analyse, to look for answers within, rather than to drown in the whirlpool of feelings.
