Provocation, audacity, a life without shame. Outrage for the sake of attention: to throw off the chains of the 'obedient pretty girl' and revel in others' reactions.
A young woman has wet herself in the middle of the city — or has planted herself in the middle of a busy highway and is flaunting her charms. No, she is not selling her body: she is provoking the reaction of those around her and revelling in their attention. She feels no shame; on the contrary — the dare is her fuel. This is a rebellion against the image of the decent, modest girl, a desire to declare herself loudly, vividly, in defiance of morality, and to savour every outraged or admiring glance.
🙊A life without shame — the shackles of propriety thrown off: the 'obedient pretty girl' is no longer needed
🎭Public outrage — provocation for the sake of others' reactions, intoxication with their attention
🚦A highway, the city centre — the stage chosen is crowded — to declare herself as loudly and visibly as possible
✊A rebellious dare — audacity, a wish to be brighter than usual, in defiance of morality and judgement
Interpretation
The Nine of Water is about provocation, audacity and a life without shame. It is the urge to throw off the shackles of obligation, to refuse the image of the obedient, pretty girl. The wish to shock the public, to declare yourself loudly, forgetting any sense of shame, and to revel in the effect you produce.
If there is a particular person in mind, your outrage is aimed precisely at him, not at everyone around. You are ready to be too conspicuous — loud, bold, vivid, more striking than usual — just so that the object of your adoration will notice you. This is a dare with an addressee.
At its root is a healthy rebellion against modesty imposed from outside. The card does not judge: it grants permission to be the one you usually do not allow yourself to be. To show what you do not even expect of yourself, to live a moment of audacity with pleasure and without a backward glance at 'what people will think'.
The neighbours set the limits of the rebellion. Beside static cards there is a risk that the euphoria will not last long, or that you will run into an impenetrable wall of indifference and morality. Beside dynamic ones, on the contrary, you may be carried away so far that the word 'stop' ceases to exist for you.
The key is to catch the high without slipping into self-destruction. Beside the water suit the card calls you to allow yourself a whole spectrum of emotions: to cry, to laugh, to grieve, to make a fuss. The Sun nearby strengthens the bright high and the joy of being yourself, The Tower hints at a rebellion against tight frames that have long been chafing.

Advice & forecast
✦ The card's advice
Show what you do not even expect of yourself. Be bold and daring, outrageous and conspicuous — and revel in it. Live the moment of rebellion with pleasure and forget the modesty that was imposed on you. Beside the water suit — allow yourself the whole spectrum of feeling: laughter, tears and anger alike. But keep the high under you: brightness is your strength, not an excuse to break down into self-destruction under others' gazes.
🔮 What the forecast holds
Ahead lies a thrill and euphoria from provocation: you will egg on those around you with your behaviour, stir up someone's reaction to your antics. Beside static cards there is a risk that the euphoria will not last long, or that you will run into a wall of indifference and morality; beside dynamic ones you may be carried away so far that the brakes fail and you no longer hear the word 'stop'.
↓ Nine of Water reversed
The reversed Nine of Water is audacity that has tipped into the extreme. In one direction the high becomes ungovernable: you are carried away, the word 'stop' no longer exists, outrage for the sake of outrage burns bridges, shocks those close to you, drives you to antics you later regret. The rebellion stops being a game and becomes self-destruction on display, a chase for attention at any cost. In the other direction, on the contrary, you never dared to take off the mask of the decent, modest girl: you crushed every spark of audacity in yourself, you live in the chains of 'what people will think', and your suppressed wish to declare yourself curdles into envy of those who dared. The reversed advice: give the high its measure. Allow yourself to be bright, but do not mistake courage for destruction, and do not turn the craving for attention into an end in itself. Beside dynamic cards especially: the brakes may fail entirely.

How it differs from Waite
Rider-Waite-SmithNine of Cups
vs
Manara Erotic TarotNine of Water
In the Waite tradition the Nine of Cups is a contented host before a row of cups, the 'wish card': satiety, fulfilment, smug well-being. Manara takes the same note of pleasure in oneself but twists it into a brazen dare: not well-fed complacency, but provocation before an audience. Where Waite enjoys what has been achieved in peace, Manara enjoys the reaction of the crowd: outrage, rebellion against propriety, the thrill of being looked at — self-satisfaction turned outward as scandal.
