In a mad dance whirl a half-mythical lady with a bat's wings and a long tail — and a skeleton in white robes. The lady is decked out in a lace gown and still delights in earthly pleasures: her transformation is not finished. Behind them one can make out the shadow of a horse and a banner in someone's hand. A grey palette floods the scene — the pressure of the mind, doubts, the endless "what if…"
💀A skeleton in white — not the end, but a herald of passage: death as a change of state, not a finale
🦇A lady with wings and a tail — you are mid-transformation: still in the old gown, but already changing
🐴The shadow of a horse — only a hint of courage and free will — you'll gain them by taking responsibility
Interpretation
Manara's Death is about rebirth and the transformation of beliefs. The old dies off so that the new may be born, but nothing is over yet: the heroine in her lace gown goes on delighting in earthly pleasures, her transformation in full swing.
The skeleton does not drag the lady into a kingdom of darkness — it merely keeps the suspense. For death here is not an end but a passage from one state to another. Where it will lead, who she will be reborn as — that is as yet unknown.
You are in a borderline state: you can no longer live the old way, but you don't yet know the new. This is a rethinking of goals and behaviour. Likely you are torn, choosing a role: now revelling in the process, now a step away from depression.
Don't hurry, don't push the processes along, don't wait for "when will this be over." Watch yourself and your views — the result largely depends on your work on yourself. The card's grey palette is the pressure of the mind and doubts; don't let them drive you to hasty conclusions.
Read it with an eye on the neighbours. Beside The Tower, the change runs up against duty and stagnation; beside The Sun, it leads out to freedom and a new horizon. The shadow of the horse hints: courage and free will will come when you take responsibility for your transformation.

Advice & forecast
✦ The card's advice
Don't rush the death of the old and the birth of the new — let the process unfold. Watch yourself, don't cling to the former role, but don't bury yourself before your time either. The result depends on your inner work, not on haste. Beside dynamic cards you may quicken the pace and decisively let go of what has outlived itself; beside static ones, stay in the passage without fidgeting.
🔮 What the forecast holds
The situation leads to changes — both within (worldview, perception, beliefs) and without (your circle, your line of conduct). This is not a finale but a change of state: something dies off to free up room for the new.
↓ Death reversed
Reversed Death is about a passage that has stalled. At best you finally finish what has dragged on too long: you let go of an outlived relationship, role, or illusion — and the rebirth that has been stuck for months gets moving. At worst you grip the old with a death-clutch: you resuscitate a cooled bond, wear a gown you've outgrown, and fear the dance with the skeleton so much that you freeze on the threshold. There appear a fear of change, a clinging to the past, an artificial prolonging of what has already died. The neighbouring cards decide: dynamic ones nearby — a bold completion and a new turn; watery and static ones — a lingering rot of what should long have been let go. The reversed advice: allow the old to die — only so will the new be born.

In the "what is" position, Death — the relationship is at a turning point: the old way is no longer possible, the new way is not yet clear. This is not an end but a change of state. What hinders is The Moon — illusions and an unwillingness to admit that the former has outlived itself. But ahead lies The Sun — if you let the old die, the union will be reborn, or you will move on freely. Don't rush the process and don't resuscitate what has cooled.

In the head position, Death — he is in a passage: his former attitude toward you is dying off, and the new one has not yet taken shape, hence the wavering. In the heart The Lovers — a genuine feeling, the choice ripening; in the body Ace of Water — a living, sincere pull. His view of you is changing toward depth, not toward cooling. Let the transformation run its course without tugging at his sleeve.

Advice
Death
Outcome
The Sun
As advice, Death asks you to allow the old to die: don't resuscitate the outlived, let the changes unfold. Only so will the new be born and freedom glimmer ahead (The Sun). Right now The Tower — you hold on to constraints and "the way things are done," and this keeps you in stagnation. Let go of the former role — rebirth requires your consent, not a struggle against it.

How it differs from Waite
Rider-Waite-SmithDeath
vs
Manara Erotic TarotDeath
In the Waite tradition, Death is a skeleton-knight on a white horse, with kings falling beneath him: an inevitable end that sweeps everything in its path. Manara has neither horse nor harvest — there is a dance of the lady with the skeleton, light and unfinished. Manara removes the fatality: the transformation is still under way, the heroine delights in the earthly, the outcome depends on inner work. Where Waite puts a full stop, Manara keeps the suspense — who you will be reborn as is not yet decided.
